POSH PAD: AN URBAN LOFT

Andrea Holderfield, Producer for Fox6, and her husband enjoy modern downtown living and all the convenience that comes with it. Their industrial loft at Pullman Flats was a perfect fit for their minimalist style and their love of cooking providing a sleek simplistic stainless equipped kitchen. With unique tile back splash, stainless appliances, and outdoor wood paneling, Pullman Flats has high end amenities that create a unique look for the exterior and interior space.

Where is your loft located? 2226 1st Ave South

What made you choose to buy a loft? We (my husband and I) wanted something unique, and in the city!

Why do you love it? We're so close to everything, especially work, and we can sleep in later...we also love our view of the downtown area! It's gorgeous at night!

What is your decor style? Modern and simplistic.

What are your fave pieces of furniture and where are they from? Our "surgical table" in our kitchen , (you can see why we call it that). It actually came with the place. It's just so different. I've never seen anyone else have one. I also love our Mac Computer area.

What do you want your loft to say about you? That if you can make a 650 square foot area into a comfortable living environment with style, then you can do anything!

What is the story behind your furniture, artwork, or any unique pieces you want to highlight? "Our ultimate bed" We call it the ultimate bed because it has six drawers on each side providing ample storage for clothing.

Why do you love living downtown? It's exciting because the city has so much potential, and there are a lot of young professionals moving in, getting involved, and trying to turn Birmingham around. It's fun to be in on the groundwork.

POSH BACHELOR PAD

Andrew May's posh pad is located at The Village Lofts in English Village in walking distance to Chez Lulu, Billy's, and Joe Muggs. With exposed brick, neutral colors, and musical flare, he turned his home into a sophisticated bachelor pad. My Scoop got the scoop on Andrew's decision to buy a loft.

What made you choose to buy a loft?
I moved to Birmingham from New York City and the loft has the "urban feel" that I am used to.

Why do you love it?
Because it is the hippest loft condo in Birmingham and I like being in English Village.

What is your decor style?
Have you heard of Feng Shui? I call my style Feng May.

What is your fave piece of decor and where did it come from?
My favorite piece of furniture is a lamp I purchased in Jasper from a store called High Point Furniture. It features a moose standing in a river. It makes me smile whenever I see it....it's so kitsch.

What do you want your loft to say about you?
That although I have a career as an investment advisor and financial planner, I have a great appreciation for art and creativity.

What is the story behind your artwork?
A local artist who is a student at Studio By The Tracks in Irondale just completed the most brilliant painting for me that I have ever owned. His name is John Miller. If you aren't familiar with his work, you soon will be. Birmingham has many inspiring, up and coming artists and it is a real passion of mine to support them.

What is the story behind your guitar collection?
Edward Van Halen is my hero. While I can't shred like he does, I can at least own the same type of guitars he plays!
